In 2019, it was a great pleasure that Ms. Dao Mai- our Sales Manager had the opportunity to attend the Women Entrepreneurs Week (Zurich, Switzerland) and gave a speech about Viet Trang Craft. This was positive news for not only Viet Trang Craft but also for the Vietnam handicraft industry to prove our potential and be recognized on the international market.

1. The 2019 Women Entrepreneurs Week

For those who don’t know, the Swiss Entrepreneurship Program is an international program to empower and support entrepreneurs to create a thriving, sustainable world. These entrepreneurs include incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces; those forming angel networks or VC funds, those developing startup support programs and so on. Hosted by the Swiss Entrepreneurship Program, the Women Entrepreneurs Week boot camp has brought together the most inspiring female founders from many countries for a week of connection, collaboration, motivation, and personal growth. Participants from around the world work with some of the best international mentors and investors through a series of workshops and coaching sessions. The goal of this boot camp is to help female founders to solve existing business problems and seek advice on business expansion and development.

2. What are the feelings and thoughts about 2019 Women Entrepreneurs Week?

“It was an amazing experience of a lifetime that I appreciate”- she shared. As Ms. Dao met a lot of women founders, she was incredibly inspired by their sustainable business story. Talking about the boot camp, she gladly told us: “Learning and being inspired are the two most important keywords after this trip. One week of working, training, listening to the sharing of investors, mentors, entrepreneurs from different countries has helped my mind expanded in both knowledge and awareness. Each person chooses to start a business in a different field and they are all completely devoted as they are living with their passion. Their startup story has brought me a lot of emotion, excitement and great motivation to continue pursuing the mission of leveraging Vietnamese handicrafts in the international market.”

When asked about how people respond when they heard about Viet Trang Craft’s business story, Ms. Dao recalled with joy: “During the event, I also had the opportunity to introduce Viet Trang Handicraft and the dream of preserving and developing cultural values ​​of traditional Vietnamese craft villages. The work that Viet Trang is doing, the values ​​that the whole team is trying to promote have been widely shared, supported and trusted by not only investors, mentors but also among other entrepreneurs in other countries. Viet Trang’s story has also become the driving force for many other entrepreneurs to build social values ​​for their businesses.” As employees, we are delighted and thrilled to know that our hard work is paid off with recognition and belief. We couldn’t be more proud and satisfied with our work here at Viet Trang Craft.

4. The most memorable thing about the journey?

Finally, it came down to the big question: What is the most memorable thing about the journey? Despite we were thinking that she would talk about the meetings and business opportunities she encountered in Switzerland, she talked about something completely different. “It was the feeling of standing on the top of the Alps which is covered with white snow. Around me, everything becomes so pure, “so high” as I was surrounded by people who have chosen to live, work and devote to their passion. At that time, I was smiling happily for what I had chosen and felt thankful for what I was doing, and I would do.” – she said.

As Oprah Winfrey once said: “Surround yourself with only people who are going to take you higher”, this program has brought in lots of positive energy and inspiration for Ms.Dao specifically and Viet Trang Craft’s employees to continue doing what we do.
