Wholesale MOQ, Samples and Lead Times: How Ordering from Viet Trang Works

Viet Trang Handicraft’s minimum order is 50 pieces per design and US$5,000 per order. Samples of our own designs take 7 to 14 days, bulk production takes about 45 days after order confirmation, payment is 30% deposit and 70% balance by TT (negotiable), and goods load at Hai Phong port in northern Vietnam. What is the minimum order quantity?

There are two minimums, and an order needs to meet both: 50 pieces for each design, and US$5,000 for the whole order. In practice, a first order usually combines several designs, for example two basket sets, a laundry hamper and a rug, at 50 pieces or more each. Mixing designs lets you test more of a range while still reaching the order value.

Because every piece is woven by hand, a design only runs efficiently once weavers have enough pieces to settle into the pattern. That is why the minimum is set per design rather than only per order.

Can I order a small test quantity, like 5 or 10 pieces?

Not as a production order: bulk orders start at 50 pieces per design. If you want to see and handle a product before committing, order samples first. Samples of our own designs are ready in 7 to 14 days; ask us for the sample cost and delivery to your address. Browse the product catalog and send us the product codes you want to sample.

How does sampling work?

Samples of our designs

Pick products from our catalog or lookbooks. We make the samples in 7 to 14 days and send them for approval. You can ask for a different size or color at this stage, and the approved sample becomes the reference for bulk production.

Samples of your own design

Send drawings, photos or a reference piece with the sizes you need. How long the sample takes depends on the design: a new shape, weave or fiber mix may need more rounds than a size change. How long does production take?

Bulk production takes about 45 days after order confirmation. When you plan backwards from the date goods must be in your store or warehouse, add the sampling time before the order and the sea freight time from Hai Phong to your port after it. For seasonal ranges, confirm samples early so production is not squeezed.

Natural fiber products need to be fully dry before packing. We dry woven goods in the sun and in drying machines at our factory, which is part of why production is planned in weeks rather than days. Our article on preventing mold in natural fiber baskets explains why this matters for goods at sea.

What are the payment terms?

Our standard terms are a 30% deposit when you confirm the order and the 70% balance by TT (telegraphic transfer). Terms are negotiable, so tell us what your company usually works with and we will agree it in the contract.

Where do orders ship from?

Orders load at Hai Phong, the main container port of northern Vietnam. We pack and load containers for importers, wholesalers and retailers in more than 30 countries, including the United States, the European Union, Australia, Japan and Korea.

• Order confirmation: you approve the samples and pay the 30% deposit.
• Production: about 45 days, then drying, quality checks and packing.
• Balance and loading: the 70% balance by TT as agreed in the contract, and loading at Hai Phong.
